Learn the skills necessary to outfit a room with custom cabinetry. Over the course of 7 classes, our instructors will guide you through the process of making a small veneered plywood cabinet that employs the very practical and efficient construction methods used by custom cabinet-makers.
This class will teach you about plywood and why and when we use it over solid wood in cabinet construction. You’ll learn edge-banding techniques, how to veneer panels, the 32mm system, sizing and hanging doors, and much more over the course of the class.
Please read the schedule carefully and make sure you can attend every class. In the event that you have to miss a class, there is a fee associated with make-up classes.
Notes from the Shop
While a solid wood, heirloom, freestanding or wall hanging unit is extremely beautiful and has its place, sometimes we need to fabricate functional storage in a more timely and cost-effective manner.
If you’ve ever been curious about redoing your kitchen with custom cabinets yourself, this class is the perfect starting point. You’ll keep project costs down by learning the practical construction techniques used by professional custom cabinet-makers.
Cancellation & Rescheduling
You can reschedule your class up until 5 days prior to the start date of your class. Any rescheduling during the 5-day window will incur a $300 rescheduling fee.
Cancellations within 7 days of your class date are non-refundable. Any no-shows will be treated as a non-refundable cancellation and will not be rescheduled.
It’s important that none of our students fall too far behind on their project, and because we don’t have time during class to catch up students who missed a class, you’ll need to schedule a makeup session with one of our instructors to catch you up outside of class for $50/hour.
Usually a makeup session is between one and two hours. If that’s not possible, you’ll need to simply pay one of the instructors to get your project back on schedule — also $50/hour.*
* $50 rate is limited to one missed classes. After that allowance, students will need to pay the regular private lesson rate of $125/hour.
